How to recover data after formatting FAT/FAT32 drive to NTFS file system?

I had a harddisk with FAT32 file system. Nowadays I want to change my filesystem from FAT32 to NTFS, because of the high-performance of NTFS filesystem. Then I format my hard drive to NTFS. But when formatting is complete, the partition is shown as empty, and my files has gone. How can I get them back?

M3 Data Recovery is an effective unformat tool and it works well with its unique unformat file search technology. Although it's a professional unformat software, but it is very easy to use, easpecially for non technician users.

Steps to recover files from formatted FAT/FAT32 drive

Step 1: Install, launch M3 Data Recovery and choose "Format Recovery" module.

Tips: Do not download or install this software to the drive which you want to recover data from.

Choose Format Recovery module

Step 2: Select the partition which you want to recover data from. Please note that the partition has been formatted from FAT32 to NTFS, so you should select NTFS drive.

And then click "Next>" button to scan the lost data.

Scan the inaccessible drive to find the lost files

Step 3: Check your found files, and save them.

In the end, select the files you want to recover, and save them to a drive other than the one on which the files were lost.

About FAT to NTFS

Changing filesystem from FAT to NTFS should use the "convert tool"of Micorsoft, but fortunately formatting wouldn't make the data erased permanently on hard drive.

If you format a hard drive, only the filesystem index entries will be erased, either formatting it to FAT filesystem or NTFS filesystem. The real data is still intact in sectors of the hard drive, it's just invisible or inaccessible.
